SASO is a non-profit, private organization located in Durango Colorado, supported by grants, donations and other fundraising efforts. SASO is dedicated to providing advocacy to victims of sexual assault and providing education and prevention programs aimed at increasing public awareness and safety.

NEW SUPPORT GROUPS
Adult Male Support Group
You are not alone At least 1 in 17 men in Colorado has been sexually assaulted or abused during their lifetime. Local psychotherapist Emily Newcomer, MEd, will be facilitating SASO's free 12-week support group for adult male survivors of sexual assault. The group will begin in September. Themes of the group will cover the effects of trauma on the brain, grief & loss, managing strong emotions, sexuality & intimacy, coping, and relationships with supportive people. Female Survivors of Teen & Adult Sexual Assault Support Group
Local psychotherapist Emily Newcomer, MEd, will be facilitating SASO's free 12-week support group for female survivors of teen & adult sexual assault. The next support group will begin in September. Themes addressed include safety, grief & loss, trauma's affect on the brain, feelings, self care & coping, boundaries & assertiveness, managing strong emotions, relationships with support people, body image & awareness, and sexuality & intimacy. Volunteer for SASO's 24-hour Crisis Hotline
Do you want to work with others to help end the sexual violence and oppression that affect us all? You have the power to heal and transform your world. Join a community of people dedicated to social justice by volunteering for Sexual Assault Services Organization (SASO). SASO's Crisis Hotline Advocates empower and validate survivors and give guidance through the hospital, law enforcement and the criminal justice system.
